'Value for People' was started by John Rogers who acts as lead consultant and trainer.

John founded and coordinated South Powys Local Exchange Trading System, which was featured on BBC Wales Today in 2003 after 10 years of successful trading.

He has pioneered the use of community currencies to support community development. From 2003 to 2007 he directed the Wales Institute for Community Currencies at the University of Newport where he coordinated research into the effects of time banking in ex-mining communities. It was published by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation in 'Hidden Work'.

He has spoken and led workshops at many international conferences in UK universities, London School of Economics, Berkeley California, Seattle USA, Ireland, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria and Sri Lanka.

John has worked as consultant and trainer with local authorities, community development agencies, housing associations, health and education services.
